About George Heron

George Heron is the founder and president of BlueFin Security, a consulting company that specializes in advanced security technologies for the computer, network and users. He is actively involved in research and implementation of anti-malware solutions, intellectual property for the security industry, and cyber crime detection and prevention methods for enterprise, consumer and government markets. Mr. Heron presents on e-security matters at leading conferences and universities, and has authored numerous positions and papers on these topics.

Prior to starting BlueFin Security in 2008, Mr. Heron was the chief scientist at McAfee for more than two years, and the CTO and vice president of engineering at SafeNet for seven years before that. In these roles, he provided executive level technology leadership, researched emerging technology and security trends, and identified new business opportunities for the companies.

His focus continues to be in bringing advanced technologies and partners together with strategic company objectives. Mr. Heron regularly contributes expert insight on technology trends and new product opportunities in the fields of e-commerce protection, secure virtualization, identity management, data loss prevention, security risk management and cyber crime prevention.

Mr. Heron has over 30 years' management experience in software design, development methodologies and testing, and he is a member of IEEE, ACM and InfraGard. He holds an engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has completed advanced studies in business management and computer science.
